You’re thinking about selling your home, or you wouldn’t be reading this. For many, this is the most significant financial transaction of their lives and one which they only undertake a handful of times. For others, it’s a way to earn money and therefore it’s done more frequently, but also relied upon for income. Either way, it’s really important that this process be done right – quickly, efficiently, and with maximum profit. And for some people, the first question they ask themselves is: Should I try to sell this house myself?

Following are some arguments for and against a For Sale By Owner (FSBO) scenario:

  • You might save money on a realtor’s commission if you manage to sell your house quickly, for asking price or above, though you will still probably have to pay 3% to a buyer’s agent.

  • Your home will probably sell for less money than if you’d listed it with an agent. As much as 20% less.
  • You will be responsible for all phases of the sale, including advertising, showings, appraisals, paperwork, and acquiring a loan and insurance.
  • You will be responsible for making whatever fixes and upgrades are needed to sell your home.
  • You will not be able to list your home on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
  • Your house will probably take longer to sell – approximately 20% longer.

Choosing a Realtor

Given the above, it’s clear that for most people, the best option is to sell your house using a realtor. But how to choose the right one? 69% of people who have sold a house with a realtor are so satisfied that they plan to use the same one again. But if that’s not the case for you, then you want to find an agent with a lot of experience, expertise, and proven ability to sell your house quickly and for the best possible price. That’s what we have at Rima Rafeh Real Estate.  Contact us today to find out more!
